Water drains straight through this aggregate base and away from your house. We control the slope to make sure heavy thunderstorms drain properly. Standing water destroys foundations. We grade the surface to pull runoff exactly where it needs to go.

Backyards in our area take a beating from the summer sun. Dark surfaces absorb that heat and become completely unusable by the afternoon.
Natural stone pavers stay significantly cooler than stamped concrete or dark composite decking. Light-colored materials like travertine and pale limestone reflect the heat. This makes a massive difference around a swimming pool. You can walk barefoot on a light stone patio in July without burning your feet.

The Installation Process
Building a patio correctly takes time and heavy equipment. We follow a strict process to make sure the surface never settles.
Excavating the active clay soil to the appropriate depth based on expected weight loads.
Compacting the subgrade to create a firm bottom layer.
Installing a geotextile fabric to separate the clay from the clean base material.
Adding several inches of crushed aggregate and compacting it with heavy plate tampers.
Screeding a precise one-inch layer of bedding sand.
Laying the stone pavers in the designated pattern.
Sweeping polymeric joint sand into the gaps and wetting it down so it hardens.
This final step locks the entire surface together. The hardened sand stops weeds from growing and keeps ants from building nests between the stones.
Maintenance And Longevity
A well-built patio requires almost zero maintenance. Wood decks need constant power washing, sanding, and staining. You just sweep a stone surface.
If you drop a heavy cast-iron grill grate and chip a piece of stone, the fix is simple. We pull up the damaged piece and drop a new one in its place. If you stain a concrete slab with grease, you stare at that stain for the next twenty years. Stone allows for isolated repairs without tearing up the entire yard.
We advise our clients to avoid high-pressure washing. Blasting the surface with intense water pressure will strip the protective joint sand right out of the gaps. A standard garden hose and a stiff broom will handle normal dirt.
